The Global Seal of Biliteracy is a distinguished certification that recognizes and provides a universally consistent and inclusive micro-credential to individuals who demonstrate advanced proficiency in English and at least one additional world language.
LanguageBird collaborates with Global Seal and Avant STAMP (Standards-based Measurement of Proficiency) to offer the exam to language learners ready to certify their skills.
What Is the Global Seal of Biliteracy?
The Global Seal of Biliteracy is recognized worldwide by colleges and employers as a standard measure of language proficiency. It certifies that the recipient has achieved functional proficiency in two or more languages and celebrates the language-learning accomplishment.

Who Can Take the Exam
Global Seal of Biliteracy Exam: What to Expect
LanguageBird administers the STAMP exam. Here’s what to expect:
- Takes up to 180 minutes to complete
- Tests four skill areas: Reading, Speaking, Listening, and Writing
- Students choose a two-week testing window
- Available year-round
- Functional Fluency: Students who have completed 8th grade in an English-speaking school and score 5 or above in each skill area
- Working Fluency: Students who have completed 11th grade in an English-speaking school and score 7 or above in each skill area
- Professional Fluency: Score 9 or above in each skill area (highest level certification)
Following the exam, LanguageBird submits your scores to Global Seal for review. If you qualify, you receive your Global Seal of Biliteracy credential.
The Global Seal offers its certification at three different levels, which can be shared digitally through its Digital Language Profile.

- Online proctor access (ASL exam requires an in-person proctor)
