Eunice C.

Korean Instructor

I’m a bilingual Korean American, born in Korea, raised in the Washington D.C. metro area. I have had many careers over the years, and as a language instructor, I have taught Korean to foreign service officers, Army and Navy officers in Washington D.C. and in Korea from beginner to advanced levels. I have years of teaching experience in Korea where I taught in elementary, middle and high schools, as well as undergraduate and graduate students at a national university as a bilingual language instructor and lecturer. I also have a teaching license as a K-12 music teacher, and have taught students of all ages in the Washington D.C. metro area as a music director and piano teacher over 10 years. I’ve also had a special opportunity to train elementary school teachers in Korea on how to incorporate music in language instruction.

Besides teaching, I also had a long career as a Korean linguist, working in the professional translation and interpretation field. I have worked for federal government agencies including the Department of Defense, Dept of Homeland Security, FDA, FBI, and intelligence agencies among many others. I was the lead interpreter for various international conferences including the Library of Congress, International Trade Court proceedings, and various high profile meetings in the federal government in Washington D.C. I provided both simultaneous and consecutive interpretations with subject expertise in science, history, literature, politics, economy and others. As a court interpreter, I have served all courts in the state of Maryland, and in various international lawsuit cases pertaining to Korean conglomerates.

It gives me great joy to be working with students as a Korean teacher while I still continue my professional work as an international consultant and linguist. Teaching has been the most rewarding experience for me and the high school age group has a special place in my heart. I look forward to not only depositing knowledge but making impactful relationships by listening to them and guiding each student with care. Previously I have made lasting rapport with students whom I still keep in touch with even from oceans away and I’m excited to embrace more. I hope the online platform will allow me to meet many students across the states that I wouldn’t have been able to in person. Look forward to seeing you in class!
